Off-side glasses (for the referees)

glass-vref.png

The "off-side glasses" are created to help sideline referees to observe which players are on-side and off-side. The glass show is by color-labeling(filtering) the opposition(attacking) players by blue and red. Blue represent that the player is on-side while the red represents that the player is off-side. The defensive player won't be color-labeled to avoid confusion. If a player with red filter receives the ball, the sideline referee will raise his flag and call off-side. In goal situations if the main referee does not agree with the sideline referee, he has a right to check Instant Review Tablet to confirm.

Player Tracking

Player tracking was the major innovation that lead to this great technology to operate properly. However, the player tracking system is not that complicated.  Every player will have an unique scan code on front and behind of their jersey. This scan code will allow V-REF cameras to calculate the distance between the offensive player and defensive player. This would allow color-labeling attacking players to blue and red. The attacking players that are behind defensive player will be filtered with red to allow sideline referees to observe off-side players.

Instant Review Tablet  (for the referees)

Instant review tablet is made for the main referees, the ones that make the final decisions, for confirming their decisions. They will be carried by the main referee for the whole game. If there is a situation where the player gets tackled and questioned for red, yellow card, or penalty the main referee has a right to stop the game by making the triangle symbol with his hands and take out his tablet to review the situation. He can stand up for his decision after the review or change his decisions.

Virtual referee cameras are designed to capture every millisecond of the game with its ability to capture 10 trillion frames per second. This ability helps to identify players that are off-side and color them with red filter. It also helps referees to review plays on their Instant review tablet when needed. Every stadium contains 4 cameras. Two for off-side purposes and two for review purposes. For the cameras for the off-side purposes, each will be placed the opposite side  of the halfway line and it will work by scanning codes from players and color labeling them. The review cameras, one camera follows the ball while the other one would record players to avoid fouling opposition players when referees not paying attention. Both cameras will share footages to television when it is necessary.
